Knitting on Toothpicks and Zucchini Bread

I have started knitting lovely lace socks with my new wool yarn. You can find the sock pattern at http://www.woolandwood.freewebspace.com/yukonleaves.htm

So far, the pattern is pretty simple on US #2 dpns. My dpns are bamboo. They are so tiny I always think I am going to break them. I recently read someone's blog where the question was posed: "Tired of knitting on toothpicks?" That's what sticks in my head while I knit on these. Problem is, some of the loveliest hand dyed yarns are fingering weight, hence the tiny size needles.

I'm still trying to find the "Yukon leaves" in the pattern. Maybe the colors obscure the texture pattern. Maybe it will be easier to see when I have several patterns complete.

I have zucchini bread baking in my bread maker, filled with walnuts and raisins. A friend from work grew the zucchini in her garden. The fragrance is lovely. I love Sunday mornings. Fresh brewed coffee with zucchini bread for breakfast. What could be better?

I like wooden needles for socks. I've only broken Brittany Birch needles but they replaced them no charge. I did have minor point problems with two other new wooden needles but their manufacturers replaced them quickly as well. And you can get wood needles shorter than metal ones. Just saying.

I find that Crystal Palace Bamboo dpns are awesome and strong! They are what I use when knitting socks!
