Hooray! My yarn arrived yesterday. Good ole postal worker delivered it to my neighbor rather than me, but kind neighbor brought it over to me when I pulled in the driveway after work. The photo doesn't do the yarn justice. The colors are deep and rich, more than the photo shows. I started new socks last night after winding it into a ball. The ball is huge! I'll bet it's 7 inches in diameter! I guess I could have wound it into 2 balls...NAH! The seller offered to wind it for me, but I love winding yarn by hand. I get to feel it and look at every inch of it when I wind it. One of the first things I do when I get new yarn is smell it. I have some that I have ordered right from a sheep farm. I have had this yarn stored in a bag for a while and they definitely need some freshening or a little sachet of lavender or something. Any other suggestions?
Do other wool knitters store their wool things with moth balls? Or do you use other moth/larva repellent? What do you use? Cedar chips? I have only started knitting seriously with wool recently. Suggestions please!

I've heard some people freeze the yarn for ridding it of odd smells.
Lovely new yarn. And I love the mitered mittens - very cool pattern for that Noro yarn. For wool storage, I would stay away from mothballs. Cedar chips or balls are great, and herbal sachets are a good choice. Taking your stash out of the bags and airing in the light periodically will help keep it fresh and moth-free, plus it's fun to fondle. :)
