I finished these socks up last night. I love the plain old 3 X 3 ribbed cuff on them - great stretch.
It is hard for me to get back to working on the socks I started with fingering weight yarn on size 2 needles when worsted weight yarn socks on size 5 go so much more quickly! If you knit socks with fingering weight yarn on size 1-3 needles, what is the attraction? Have you tried knitting socks with worsted weight yarn on larger needles? Just curious. I love wearing these socks with my birkenstocks in cold weather. They are perfect.
I am thinking about making my hand dyed yarn a self supporting habit by selling a skein on eBay, then using the money to purchase additional yarn for dyeing. Would I be better off selling fingering weight or worsted weight? I guess that's actually two questions. I look forward to your feedback.

I usually do my socks on #1 addi's magic loop. Not sure but from what I've been told the tighter the fabric the longer they will wear. Some say the smaller sts. feel better on the sole. Haven't yet tried heavier socks but I'm planning on it before the snow flies!
I'd say the fingering weight sock yarn is more popular but if it were me I'd try both!
I'm working a sock on US 4 & sportweight, and one on US 1 & fingeringweight. I like the intricacy of the lighter yarn a little bit better, and I have heard that tighter/smaller stitches wear better, like Mar said.
I'd be inclined to try both, probably.
Fingering weight is best for socks. Worsted limits pattern design in my humble opinion.
I can't wait to see what you will sell
