What kind of needles do you like best? Metal? Bamboo? Plastic? Wood? If you are like me, it can often depend upon the project. I love knitting in the round, but one thing I hate about circular needles is the coil on the "string". I wish manufacturers didn't coil them in their package. It's so frustrating fighting that coil when knitting! My experience is that it holds that shape for a really really long time. I like bamboo needles for socks and mittens. The yarn stays on bamboo better than other materials. I especially like dpns that are short, like 5". My size 7 dpns are bamboo and only 5" long. I use some Lion Brand dpns, sizes 5 and 6, alot. They are some kind of plastic with a metal core, I think. They are soft to work with and I kind of like them. They take alot of abuse; they are pretty sturdy. I haven't seen them in any other sizes. I have a pair of size 4 dpns made of bamboo that are really long - like 10" or 12". I HATE them. Whatever possessed me to buy them??? I wasn't thinking that day. I am going to replace them with some shorties as soon as I can find some. And you know how I feel about the size 0, 1 and 2 bamboo needles - they feel like toothpicks and I will probably break them someday. But metal? No, I don't think so. Too slippery and cold.
Well, what do you think?

I goofed.
Let me try again. Put boiling water in a bowl, and put the coil part of your circular needle in it till it relaxes. Then dry strait on a bath towel and roll it up in the towel till it cools. Then they work fine, for me anyway. Good luck
Ooo! I will try that! Thanks!
you can aklso hold the coil over steam from boiing water & that works too.
My favorites are metal~~yarn slides so much better!I'm not a fast knitter but when using the metal Addi's I think I am!!
Small world~~I'm in Lockport! Where do you do your yarn shopping?
