Cheektowaga, where I live, translates as "land of the crabapples" - it's Native American. I'm thinking Seneca, but I could be wrong. Anyway, Cheektowaga is just outside Buffalo - and if you have ever flown into Buffalo, you were near my house. I live very close to the airport. I have 2 grown children, twins, age 27. My son lives in Brooklyn. He's an artist and does a little graphic design work on the side. My daughter works and is a college student in Buffalo. I live with my dog Betsy, a 5 year old Pekingese. I have been knitting since I was 10 or so. I learned from a book. What peaked my interest was - now this dates me - starting out knitting cord with a homemade thing. Back then, thread came on wooden spools. When you could get your hand on an empty large wooden spool, you hammered 4 or 5 small nails in the top. Voila! Then you thread yarn around the nails and use a crochet hook to pull a loop over the yarn on the nail. It was a big fad in the fourth grade. These days, you can buy these made of plastic. I have to say, I remember the wooden spool ones with great fondness. Once I mastered that, knitting on 2 needles wasn't far behind. I now knit socks, sweaters, scarves, mittens. I love knitting in the round.
