This is the progress I have made up to this morning on the Elizabeth Zimmerman-inspired hooded sweater. It's on size 9 circular needles. Because I used worsted weight yarn instead of the bulky weight yarn EZ's pattern calls for, I had to create my own pattern. Mine uses the same motifs that are in hers - just alot more of them. I am making this from Lion Brand WoolEase - I know that's not a pure woolist thing to do, but I know my daughter. She isn't going to wash this by hand. This is going to go into the washer and dryer. Who can blame her? It's going to be a wonderful sweater and she will wear it ALL THE TIME. I'm not kidding. I am replacing a sweater that she bought in a department store, made of acrylic yarn -similar idea, with a hood, cable patterns and toggle buttons down the front. She is still wearing it despite the fact that it has huge holes in it! She loves that old sweater. I had to let go of my other projects so that I could work on the sweater. It's getting cold out there!
I am making this sweater very long - she's fairly tall and hates sweaters that are short. This way she'll get one that fits just how she wants it.
The sweater is laid out on a maple table that I bought second hand yesterday. It came with 2 chairs - all very sturdy without scratches or damage. The table has a veneer top, but otherwise, everything is solid maple. $40! Can you believe it? I love a good bargain.
I will be doing more merino wool yarn dyeing this weekend - fingering weight. Any color requests? I am thinking about more of the autumn-inspired shades.
