STORM: Before and After

I have power, but my neighbors do not. There are still tens of thousands of homes without power. I came back to my home yesterday. I spent the afternoon cleaning up the branches and hauling them out to the curb and dumping all the food out of my refrigerator. I have a flood in my backyard, but my basement is dry and my sump pump is running. The constant hum of generators is background noise throughout the area. Generators are powering traffic lights. When they run out of gas, the traffic lights go dark. Most drivers know to approach them as a 4-way stop sign, but there's always one or two who don't, so you have to be extremely cautious on the road.
Yesterday was sunny and warmer, so the snow is melting. Today it's raining.

It's good to be home.
