Halloween Goblins
How did you make out with Trick or Treaters? I had a pretty good stream of them from about 6pm to 8pm. Went through 5 bags of candy, and one of which was hundred of mini tootsie pops and one bottle of pinot noir for me. Lots of princesses, some Nascar costumes, two tiny teddy bears, a group of young teen girls dressed as dancers, several football and hockey players, one gangster (excellent costume and makeup), lots of female vampires, two Michael Myers with hockey masks and a smattering of witches. One adolescent boy had a black outfit with the mask from the painting "The Scream". I told him he'd get double the candy if he could tell me who the artist was who painted the scream. Needless to say, he left with one mini candybar. I was disappointed. There was one toddler who screamed and refused to come up to the door (jeepers, I didn't know I looked THAT bad). Another little tyke squeezed in between a bigger kid and the doorway - that kid is assertive!
There are two little boys from down the street who, all summer long, leave their toys all over the neighborhood. In the past, I told them that what they leave in my yard becomes mine. (They also deposit garbage in my yard, candywrappers, drink boxes, gum wrappers - you name it. When I see them, I get them to pick it up and deposit in a garbage can, but they do this alot when I am at work. Where are their parents? you might ask. Beats me. )Anyway, in August they left a pile of 20 or so action figures in my driveway. They boys were nowhere to be seen. I sauntered to the garage to fetch a broom and dustbin and small wastepaper basket, strolled out to the pile, swept them up and deposited them in the dustbin. Looked around, didn't see any boys, and placed everything in the garage.
When they came for tricks or treats last night, I gave them back their action figures. The parents were all "Oh, so that's where those went". Kids were dazed and confused. How 'bout that.
And now for some Wool Yarns
Here are 5 new hand dyed yarns I have created. I tried creating pastels; the blue and yellow and the pink and yellow. All of them are merino wool fingering weight yarns, approximately 440 yds., enough for an adult medium pair of socks. I really enjoy blending colors and arriving at these color combinations. Sometimes I think I could just dye them and hang them all around the house just as home decor. I sure wouldn't mind looking at them all the time! But then, they could never fulfill their destinies - to become warm and toasty socks for very special people and the people who knit them. If interested, see www.thankewe.etsy.com

being in a big city & living in an apartment we don't get trick or treaters. Seems everyone here takes their childern to shopping streets to trick or treat at stores.
When I lived in Buffalo, I didn't get any either. Where I am now is an older suburb, and there are quite a few.
Their gorgeous colours. Love the one with purple in it.
