Aren't you glad the holidays are over? I am. Not that they weren't lovely; they were. But there's all that extra madness of running around, spending money, sending out cards, fighting crowds, wrapping this and that, eating too much sugar and for some, not getting enough sleep. Our holiday was relatively low on much of the above (except for the eating too much sugar), and I am still glad they are over. By the way, this photo is my sock-worthy sister's new porch, all bedazzled for the holiday. pretty, huh?
It's only a few days after the beginning of the new year, so I suppose that the after holiday stretch has barely begun. Now it's time to get back to normal.
I have a question that has been on my mind for the past few Christmas seasons. I'm not a big outdoor decorator for the holidays. That seems like a chore that is just not necessary when you add it to the already stress-laden season. But it appears to me that many people feel compelled to put up the lights on Thanksgiving or the day after. Am I wrong? Seems to me that many people feel it's something they must do. like mowing their lawns in summer. Is that the case? Do you know someone like that? Or am I suffering from sugar-induced delusions?

Decorating for me isn't really a necessity or obligation, but I always really want to even though I see it as a great big PITA too. It just makes me feel so festive!
I don't think they feel they must. I know in the case of my mother, she LOVES christmas and holiday decorating and it takes everything she has to wait until after thanksgiving so they go up as soon as it is over!
