New Swift

Look what arrived in the mail for me today! It's a portable swift. I love it! It took me a fraction of the time to wind a skein of sock yarn on it compared to the agonizing length of time I previously did it by hand. So easy! It spins easily and does not need to be clamped onto the table. This table is pretty slick, and it stayed in place, no problem. I got this from http://scottsmountaincrafts.etsy.com. I recommend this. I like to rewind my hand dyed yarns after they dry, so that you can see the color combination better. This nifty gadget makes it a breeze. Check out their etsy site. What you see in the foreground of the photo is just a wooden clothes drying rack that I use to dry my yarn post-dyeing. By the way, I still have one skein of the crocus 100% merino wool sock yarn in my etsy shop, along with other colorways. My shop is at www.thankewe.etsy.com.
I have some really pretty lace socks on sticks at the moment. I am knitting one of my own yarns, superwash wool in peaches and cream colors. The pattern is hedera from www.knitty.com. You can see the pattern here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATThedera.html
Mine are turning out so soft and lovely. Despite the fact that I usually like hefty hand knit wool socks, I may change my mind with these. They are just lovely. I don't mind the intricate directions on these. It's fun to watch the lace unfold. When I get a bit more done, I will post a pic!
