Peaches 'n Cream

If you like this yarn or would like to re-create these socks, you can find the peaches 'n cream hand dyed yarn available starting on Sunday April 15 in my yarn shop: www.thankewe.etsy.com. It's made from superwash wool (75% wool and 25% nylon), it's very soft, machine washable and colorfast. One skein is 440 yards, more than enough for an adult medium pair of socks. I had a solid 2 1/2" in diameter ball (old fashioned, wind-by-hand ball)left over after completing the hedera sock pattern (find it at www.knitty.com) with this yarn. I knit them for a ladies size 7 foot.
The lace from this pattern is outstanding - very stretchy. Great socks for summer! I knit them on #2 dpns. They really were fun to knit.
I will also have other colors available in my shop on Sunday - melons (colors of honeydew and cantaloupe), daffodil (yellow/cream), buttercup (golden yellow/cream) cherry blossom (deep pink and cream) lilac (lilac cream and green), citrus (lime, orange and lemon), grapefruit (peach and yellow) - all lovely summer colors. I will have much more to come in the hear future in addition to these. There are two of us now creating yarns for the shop, so there will be new colors coming from another imagination. The new yarn creator is my daughter, Emily! It's a mother-daughter venture. She learned my techniques and enjoys dyeing yarn and creating new color combinations as much as I do!
Up until recently, I did the yarn dyeing in my kitchen. Now we have set up a yarn dyeing studio in the basement - which is a finished basement. Instead of my business being contained in a plastic tub, we have space dedicated to creating yarn and organizing all the equipment and supplies. It makes it easier not to have to get things out, put them away. What a difference it makes! I also have a mailing list available to let knitters know when new yarns are being listed in the shop. If you would like to be added to the list, just send an email to me at sumptinelse@yahoo.com.

Where is Spring?

Does anyone know? It is windy and cold and snowing here this morning. My poor crocuses had a brief moment to bloom and the only daffodils that bloom are the ones I cut and bring into the house just prior to opening. How I long for warmer temperatures! I think we had spring in March and now we are back to winter. Knowing this area as I do, we will probably wake up one morning to temps in the 80s without any transition time. Then we'll wonder why we waited so long to get out the air conditioners! I have wild ducks that visit us this time of year. I put out cracked corn for them. Ther is a mallard couple that visit nearly every day for a meal. They have been coming for several years. I so enjoy their visits. They will waddle right up to my back door - so cute!
