Here's my first attempt at felting wool. I put it through the washer in a pillowcase twice with hot water and other rough clothes. I wish it was a bit more felted - the knit stitches are still visible. The green wool felted the best. Does anyone know - can I run it through again? It is dry now and blocked. Is it possible to run it through the washer again without the pillowcase?
For those of you who love sterling silver jewelry, take a look at my daughter's new etsy shop - EMsgEMs - at www.emsgems.etsy.com.
The contest is still runing. We have received over 100 suggestions for our name the yarn contest! It runs until August 31st. Scroll down a few posts if you would like to enter. The prize is a skein of hand dyed sock yarn of your choice from http://www.thankewe.etsy.com plus a set of star stitch markers.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions regarding the felting. See you on your blog!

You can run it through as many times as you need to. Sometimes you may need to run through the was several times before you get the effect you want. I usually place the item in a zippered lingerie bag and throw in about 3 pairs of hubby's jeans.
It also depends on how big or small you want the bag, because remember it shrinks allot when felted.
the pillowcase keeps bits from ecsaping into your washer and possibly clogging it up. can you adjust your machine for more aggitation? and yes, you can keep running it thru till you get what you want.
in addition to running it through again, i like to add a tea kettle full of really hot water to the washing machine (top loader). it seems to enhance the felting.
well everyone already said what i was going to. i know my felting has often taken 3 loads!
All of us have the same suggestion for you, yes you can run it thru as many times as you want. For sure use jeans with it and HOT water and lots of aggitation. Good luck! You are almost there.
