So much has happened already

Progress report.
Yes, I had the interview in Chicago, July 10. Yes, I was offered a job the following week. Yes, I took it! I'll be leaving for Essex the third week of October. Not so far away as it sounds.
We are set to move out of our house before the end of the month. I will be staying with my sister in rural America. I already have an appointment to have my belongings surveyed for shipment across the Atlantic. Whoa!
My fingerprints were sent to the FBI.
I have weekly calls with Anna from London to monitor my progress.
I picked out my car! It's a diesel powered Yaris! In either venetian silver or twilight blue. Sounds pretty, huh?
Daughter Emily has done a great job getting the house ready for the move. The new tenants visited the house, along with the landlord a few days ago.
I will be staying temporarily in England upon arrival at a Bed & Breakfast.
One of the things that is happening so quickly now is my money runs out really fast! I am still waiting for reimbursement for my trip to Chicago for the interview. That was July 10. I am told that they are looking at ways to wire the money so that we don't have to pay for the conversion of pounds to dollars. I have only 2 paychecks left. Work ends a week from Monday! Rent is all paid. Will still have car payments, insurance. Still need to plan for the sale of the care as well. It was reassuring to look at the payoff amount of the loan. Car registration is due 9/30 and it's over $50. Should I renew it? or plan to let the car go at the end of Sept? If I do, I will be stranded out in the boondocks for over 2 weeks. That will make me crazy. It's probably worth it to pay the $50 and have the car a bit longer. Everything is costing me money! It's extremely noticeable when you know there's a finite amount coming in.

Work is really winding down. There seem to be just random bits of work coming up each day...fax this, respond to that. I won't miss all that stuff. My departure is leaving a few people with loads of extra work. Wish there was something I could do to relieve it, but there really isn't. I have only 6 days left. One of those days is in Warsaw, having lunch and being honored. Another one of those days is having lunch out and being honored by my local team. So that's really only 4 days. My last day I'm only staying a few hours. So that's really only 3 days. Then, done. No more getting up early and driving to work at Hillside, which I have been doing for nearly 11 years. I vow to continue to get up early, shower, dress, pick up coffee and be off somewhere most every day! Staying home and slugging around is NOT an option.

I try not to think too much about what I will miss. I will of course miss Lily rushing in and jumping on my bed early in the morning to wake me with great slurpy kisses each day. I will of course miss cricket looking up at me asking if she can go with me wherever it is that I am going in the car as I pick up my keys and head for the back door. And I will miss that wild dog celebration that occurs each day when I walk in the door, home from work. I am memorizing the feel and smell of my little friends, for future reference. If I commit those wonderful sensations to memory, I can close my eyes and think of them whenever I need to.
More to come...
