When I was packing my things for England, it was still August. I could not imagine needing warm clothes before leaving, so they are all packed. This week is warmer, but last week, there was frost on East Concord's pumpkin. I'll be going in to my packed totes and pulling out more warm clothes and wool sweaters. I have reduced the number of summer things to just a few favorites to take along. I have all together too many clothes. I got rid of 2/3 of them at different times. The first time after I lost quite a bit of weight. Then I started weeding things out to empty the house in preparation for the move. Many went to Goodwill and Amvets. There were a few nice things I sold on ebay at the beginning. Now it's just a matter of deciding which things I really really need to take to England with me and which things I can eliminate.
To complicate matters, I have purchased some more business wear for work - dress pants, blazers, a few pairs of dressier shoes. I have to be careful because I could buy dozens of pairs of shoes. There are some really nice ones right now at BonTon. I picked up one pair from there yesterday.
I love these. They don't look like much until I put them on. Then, fabulous! They are the most comfortable shoes with a bit of a heel that I have found in years!
Sometimes, when you find what you want in your size, you have to grab it. It won't be there in 3 weeks when you are shopping on purpose.
I will forgo buying additional bed linens until I get to England. I have to limit what I plan to ship now and linens are reimbursable (unlike clothes and shoes).
I have been checking with others who have relocated to the UK regarding purchase of a Macbook. I needed to know if it was best to buy it there versus in the US. Several responded that they purchase theirs here and have had no problems. Just need a plug converter. It's also possible to buy a power cord for the Macbook once arriving in UK. That will be my plan. My iPod is an orphan and needs a parent Mac ASAP.
So, this is the purchase that is at the top of my list before shipping out. Counting the days to shopping! It will be fun.
