Autumn is my favorite season. Summer has ended, temperatures are cooler, skies are more dramatic and the countryside explodes with color unmatched by any other season. As much as I love summer, I long for the brisk temperatures of autumn. Now is the time to pull out the hand knit sweaters, socks, scarves and hats. I notice among my knit garments, a definite trend to autumn colors. Without intending to, I must be thinking of autumn when I decide to knit a garment. I have socks in browns and golds and rust colors, sweaters in dark reds with a hint of orange and green.

In two weeks I will more time for knitting. My evening job as an outpatient therapist is coming to an end. The agency's financial difficulties is causing them to drastically reduce their counseling staff to bare bones minimum. It is a sad situation, but it will afford me more time to knit. Those many pairs of Christmas socks will become a reality! What fun I will have knitting them. Can't wait! As it is now, I can only grab a half hour here and there. This is not at all what I want. I want a perpetually filled hot cup of tea, a woodsy scented tart melting over a candle nearby, and lots of beautiful yarn laying all around me as I knit it up into fabulous garments.

10 New Yarns

Last weekend, I put up new yarns at my shop on Etsy, and by Tuesday morning, I was completely sold out! So, since we have horrendous winter weather right now, I spent my mid-week day off dyeing more yarn. Sock weight and worsted weight, superwash and 100% merino wool, I have them all! Most are in lovely spring pastels, like melon, green grass, apricot tulip, crocus, apeldoorn tulip and a new color combo that I call coral reef (carribean blue, foam white and coral). The worsted weight yarns are all superwash wool. The sock yarns are either 100% merino wool or superwash. You can see them on the drying rack to the left. When they are dry, I will rewind them, re-photograph them and put them up on www.thankewe.etsy.com. They should be up by Sunday Feb. 18.

It's such a pleasure to look at pastels in spring colors to remind myself that this winter will end, eventually.
