This is a watercolor painting by an artist I know and love. The artist is my sister. I love watercolor paintings and this one contains all the features that I enjoy so much. The soft color palette is the biggest reason. Aren't the sky colors lovely? This one also has my favorite theme for paintings - nature. I really enjoy the Asian feel of the painting. I know that the hummingbird is one of my sister's favorite birds. She has several hummingbird feeders in her yard which are busy all summer with feisty little hummingbirds, competing for the best perch from which to sip. Even if they don't get a perch on the feeder, her yard is an opulent flower garden, a veritable buffet for hummingbirds, with every sweet nectar-producing flower that can grow in this part of the northeastern US. So, I present this painting for your enjoyment.
On the knitting front, I finished a pair of socks for DD in lovely autumn colors from Red Heart TLC. She loves them. She can throw them in the laundry with her other clothes without worry of accidentally felting them. I also have one sock completed in a pair for my niece. I have another pair started in Patons Classic in beautiful shades of brown gray and cream made of 75% acrylic and 25% wool - machine washable. There's always a pair or two of socks on the dpns. I still can't quite convince myself to try another pair on size 2 dpns. They take forever! I love my worsted weight yarn socks on size 5 dpns. They are so quick. Granted they are bulkier, but I like a nice warm, thick sock. With high temps this week in the teens, bulky wool socks are the best for me. Has anyone else out there tried making socks in this weight yarn? Let me know. I believe I am the only person who knits socks like this. I would like to know that I am not alone.
Oh! And I forgot the best part of all!! My daughter Emily has asked me to teach her to knit socks!! All she has knit so far is a washcloth in garter stitch. But she picked it up quickly. She has learned to cast on, knit stitches and purl stitches. I got her cast on done on dpns, so now she can do the ribbed cuff. This will be a teach-as-you-go project with a simple pattern, the one I know by heart. I'm so excited!! She wants to make her own socks - she loves the ones I make for her. Soon, shell be a pro.

You are not alone, last year I knit myself a pair of house socks using LB Wool Ease, and then my fiancé a pair of boot socks from Lambs Pride.
I love how warm and cozy worsted socks are and the go so quickly! :D
I normally knit socks with smaller yarn. I love the look of the little itty bitty stiches. I know they take longer but I like it. I am however making my first pair of worsted weight socks for you. :)
Your Sockret Pal

All socks can be good socks - if they are handknit socks.
