Things have been mighty busy around the Thank Ewe Studios lately. We recently tried dyeing bamboo blend yarn and offering it in the shop. It has beena major hit! It's 60% superwash merino, 30% bamboo and 10% nylon. The merino makes the yarn soft, warm and wicks moisture away, keeping your feet warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather. The nylon makes this a very durable yarn. The bamboo is a natural fiber which adds texture and shine to your knitted item. This yarn dyes up so pretty. There is a sheen to this yarn that makes it really special. See the photo above.
We are so excited about the upcoming holidays that we decided to offer a little discount for those of you who want to knit up some socks for gifts. 5 or more skeins gets a 10% discount on the total price of the yarns. Tha includes everything in the ON SALE section as well. You will get the discount on stitchmarker sets as well if they are purchased with the yarn. see the website for details: www.thankewe.etsy.com.
Speaking of stitchmarkers, aren't these cute?

See these and many more in the shop.
SOCKS!
I don't know about the rest of you, but socks are big items on my gift list this year. Last year it was the ladies...this year, it's the men. Nice thick socks in manly colors for the guys. I will treat them to a warm feet experience the likes of which they have not yet seen! I use worsted weight superwash wool which I have dyed in browns with hints of russet and green. Simple socks with generously long ribbed cuffs and roomy toe areas. Perfect for the hiker and hunter this winter. I will have extra knitting time soon. I am leaving my evening job and won't increase my work hours during the day until March 1, so my fingers will be flying.
SEWING!
Next week I am on vacation from the day job. In addition to dyeing yarn, I am bringing out my sewing machine to make a fleece hooded cape with pretty antique silver buttons. The fleece is light periwinkle blue and will be lovely with the silver buttons. Quick and easy project, perfect for the fall when it's not quite cold enough for the winter jacket but too cool for just a sweater. Pics will be posted when complete.
That's all from me now. I'll be visiting you on YOUR blog to catch up on your knitting news!
