This was the fastest pair of socks I have ever knitted. I attribute it to the slippery smooth quality of this merino wool-soy yarn from Patons. So much fun to work with! They practically knitted themselves. I really like the way the stripes worked out. The yarn is a 70/30 blend of merino to soy fiber in singles. It's worsted weight and comes in 2.8 oz. balls. I used a bit more than 2 balls for the pair. I like extra long cuffs - never less than 6 inches of ribbed cuff on my socks. Nothing I dislike more than socks that fall down low on the ankles. The yarn is firm textured, a mite scratchy but very squishy. I think the squishy factor is heightened due to the fact that it is a single. When you knit with singles, do you find that sections of them come un-twisted? Sometimes I re-twist them with my fingers as I knit, (I did spend many hours learning to droop spindle spin, so that comes in handy here)**oh, I love when spelling errors make for funny!** but sometimes, I just leave them alone. In any case, the yarn is shiny and the socks have a luster to them that is very pretty.
Over all, I liked how the socks turned out. Darling daughter Emily, also of ThankEwe fame, is the proud owner of these new socks. She didn't even have to wait for Christmas! I wanted to test this yarn out, so there was no waiting. Just FYI - the yarn is on sale at that everything craft/fabric store with a woman's name, not Michael's, 2/$8.00.
BTW, lots more bamboo/merino/nylon sock yarns added to www.thankewe.etsy.com now and a dozen more in the next few days.

Beautiful! I can't wait to get some of this yarn for myself :)
I loved the colors and the striping too, lisa. Thanks Melissa! It's really fun to work with.
pretty sherberty colors
the itchy doesn't bother you? i made a scarf out of it and can't stand it. I can't imagine it on my feet.
I guess my feet are not that sensitive. I can't imagine having this yarn on my neck - that would drive me nuts with itch, but on my feet it's no problem. I have knit lots of 100% wool socks and my feet love them.
