Look What I Got!

While outside, surveying the backyard birds yesterday, my friendly neighborhood UPS man came by and handed me a gift. I was beside myself with glee. I started singing Christmas carols to him, the ones about gifts and getting stuff, like "merry Christmas to me...merry Christmas to me, merry Christmas dear Sonja...merry Christmas to me". He gave me a sideways smile that indicated he thought I was probably a few cards short of a deck and went on his way. I ran inside and split open the tape to reveal:

Two each of sizes 2,3,4 and 5 circular nickel plated needles from knitpicks and 2 skeins of worsted weight "bare" superwash wool yarn. The needles are for all the socks I knit. I may soon be selling all my dpns in our yarn shop, since I will probably not knit socks on them ever again. Look at the progress I have made in just a couple of days (keep in mind, I work up to 10 hours a day outside my home):
This is the back view, so you can see the turned heel and flap.

Below is the front view of the socks. These will be done in no time!

I haven't decided yet exactly what the worsted weight yarn is for. It may be for socks for ME! I have dyed some lovely yarn I call geology in tan, gray, and cream - a nice neutral sort of yarn. This yarn dyes up so beautifully and when socks are washed, they become more and more soft over time.

I have been knitting every free moment to finish things that will be for Christmas gifts. While knitting, I have been watching a new video podcast: Let's Knit2gether. I found it on iTunes. I especially enjoyed watching the episodes Cat did from various fiber festivals, like the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, Stitches East in Baltimore and hanging out with the Yarn Harlot in NYC. Almost as good as being there! I highly recommend watching this. I have been listening to It's a Purl, Man and finally got to see Guido in the Let's Knit2gether video podcast. Always fun to match a voice with a face. Ya gotta love a man who knits. So, if any of you casters are reading this, I'm a fan!

That's about it for today. I'm off on a counseling adventure, but later this weekend, I'll see you on YOUR blog!

The socks look great. I knit 2 socks on 2 circs but sometimes go back to the dpn's. It just depend on my mood at the time I'm casting on.

Your socks look awesome. I have been toying with the idea of socks on circs for a while, due to the speed factor. You have inspired me. I think I'll try it.
